Enrollment Process

Milwaukee College Prep is a free, public charter school that every child in the City of Milwaukee is eligible to attend.  There is no pre-screening of applications to review academic and social performance.

Registration forms will be available on this site beginning February 1st and must be completed between February 1st and February 28th. Applications will be accepted after February 28th, but the child will either be added to the wait list or assigned an open seat, after the lottery, if one exists. A complete application includes:

  • Completed online application

  • Immunization records

  • Copy of Birth Certificate (K3, K4, K5 and New MCP Students only)

  • Note: All K4 applicants must be 4 years old on or before September 1

The Lottery

If the number of applications exceeds the number of seats available, a random drawing will be held to fill the available seats.  Siblings of currently enrolled students will be given preference.  Each applicant will be assigned a number, and then the numbers will be drawn to determine placement order, beginning with K4.  If an applicant with older siblings is drawn, the older siblings will be immediately placed in their respective grade(s) as room permits.  Letters will be sent to all applicants informing them of their acceptance or their number on the wait list.

The Wait List

Drawing continues until all names have been pulled.  Applicants whose names are pulled after all the seats are filled will remain on a wait list in the order they were pulled.  If a seat becomes available, we will contact the family.  If the family cannot be reached, we will take the next student on the wait list. Wait lists will not be carried over from one year to the next.

Forms

All mandatory forms must be complete and legible for the application to be processed. Incomplete applications will not be processed until all requested information is submitted. If you have any questions, please call 414–264–6000, Ext. 354.

If your child is enrolled in another academic institution please complete the Transfer of Student Records form. This form needs to be returned to the current school your child attends.

Enrollment opens February 1st!
