Celebrating Young Authors

Every day, Milwaukee College Prep’s scholars and alumni celebrate impressive new achievements. On Monday, June 12th, four 5th grade scholars at MCP’s Lloyd Street campus celebrated becoming newly published young authors.

Scholars Jasani Golden, Lyric Portwood, Akira Tackes, and Addison Williams worked together to write and illustrate a graphic novel during writing club this 2022-23 year. After months of hard work and collaboration, their book, “Star and Alice”, has been published on Amazon!

A bit about “Star and Alice”:

This book is just two sisters trying to save Earth, right? I think it is really about keeping secrets. You do not really know how big the consequences are going to be the more you hide it...

MCP celebrated this great achievement with a book signing of this groundbreaking, debut graphic novel in the middle school hallway. In addition to signing copies of the book, the four young authors answered questions about the book and their experience putting it together.
